Parenting is a 24/7 job that will absolutely change your lifestyle, including your schedule. This is why a lot of parents lose their fitness – they simply don’t have the time for best treadmills or any other exercise equipment’s.
Fortunately, there are ways to stay fit under different circumstances, including being a parent. In fact, it’s absolutely possible to exercise at home, so stay-at-home parents still have the chance to keep their physique.
Stay Fit With The Kids
Honestly, just taking care of the kids is a workout itself. Especially if you’re handling small kids, everything would feel like it’s an exercise at home. Doing the laundry, cleaning the house, and preparing their meals every day would count as a workout. However, if you want to push it more and do proper exercise, why not do it with the kids?
Many parents include their kids in their daily routine. This way, working out wouldn’t feel like a burden, but a bonding activity instead. Think of your kids as your group mates in a group exercise. By doing this, not only would you have the chance to stay fit, you are also teaching your kids the importance of it and training them to grow up including exercise in their lives.
Wear Workout Clothes As Your Everyday Clothes
Wearing your workout clothes as your everyday clothes have two effects: you are always ready to do some routines, and you always feel that you are ready to do some routines. For the latter, it can be a bit psychological.
Wearing too comfortable clothes at home is okay, especially if you have a lot of chores to do, but that can also make you feel that your body is not in that “exercise mode”. If you are already wearing workout clothes, you will feel that you are already one step closer to actually doing some routines.
Use The House
Almost everything in your house can be used as workout equipment. You can use your stairs to do some jogging for a few minutes, or you can put your feet under your heavy couch to hold you down will you do some crunches. Be creative. It doesn’t matter if you have the complete equipment as a gym does. What matters is that you do the exercise.
Be ready for some mishaps. Your everyday schedule may not be followed every day, so it’s best that you have plans of how you can work out under different circumstances. Sometimes, change of schedule can serve as an excuse for a person to not do his daily exercise routine, so make sure to not give yourself the same excuse by planning for it.
Coordinate With Family and Friends
You don’t have to do this alone. Get your family and friends in the plan. Coordinate with your spouse regarding the schedule. See if any of your family and friends are available to help with the kids while you do your routine.
Hire A Personal Trainer
Trainers serve two purposes: one is to teach you how to properly work out and the other is to push you to your limits. With a personal trainer, the excuses that you may give yourself to not exercise won’t work. Their main job is to help and keep you working as much as possible.
Being a parent is definitely the world’s best and hardest job, but it does not mean that you cannot take care of yourself anymore. Remember that staying fit is not only for good looks, it’s also for good health, and good health will not only benefit you but also your kids.
