What Products Are Needed To Prepare?

Before we get started, you need to prepare the following items. They don’t need to be premium brands. As long as they are legitimate products, those can very much suffice.

A good facial cleanser will depend on the skin type you have. Choose either dry, oil, or combination. When in doubt, settle for the cleanser for combination skin type.

A facial toner is used for smoothening the face and making it appear fresh. This is possible because of the nourishment from the toner.

To select a moisturizer, make sure it can make your skin feel soft and hydrated regardless of your skin type.

Procedures Of Application

Now that you have prepared the necessary items, it is time for the application.

Using The Cleanser

To remove all the accumulated oil and dirt on your face, it is important to cleanse the face at least twice a day: after waking up in the morning and before going to bed. Cleansing promotes stimulation of the blood circulation and hence the glowing of skin.

Put a small amount of a cleanser, about the size of a penny, on the fingers.

Apply to either side of the face in a circular motion until the surface is fully covered.

When the selected surface of the face is covered, rinse it off with tap water.

Dry the face with a clean, dry towel.

An ‘exfoliating face wash’ is a great substitute for cleanser. Try using the said product around once or twice a week. This will help in removing dead skin cells accumulated in the face.

Applying Of Toner

After a few good minutes of cleansing the face, you will proceed in applying the toner. So that the skin’s pH level is balanced, the toner to be used should be alcohol-free.

Put an ample amount of toner on the cotton pad, enough to make it damp.

Wipe the entire face being cleansed thoroughly. Make sure to avoid sensitive areas like the eyes and lips.

After the application, do not rinse off with water. Pat your skin with a dry towel. Let it breathe and dry gradually.

After drying your toner-applied face, it is time for moisturizing. So that your skin will have additional safety, select a moisturizer with sun protection capability. This will prevent your skin from drying up due to the hot weather condition.

Take a little amount of a moisturizer, around the size of your two fingertips.

Apply the moisturizer through a gentle massage of the face in a circular motion.

For the eye area, use an eye cream instead.

The simple skincare routine comprises of the three: using a cleanser (or exfoliating face wash at certain times), applying toner, and moisturizing. This must be done twice a day to achieve optimal results. Make sure that the products to be used will not cause problems to the skin.

Even for a busy mother, it will only take around 5 minutes each session. Although a mother has many tasks, she is a woman after all, and taking care of her appearance is naturally a right.

Script on Housing

How a Collective of Mothers Flipped the Script on Housing

All countries probably had one or two more problems within their area when it comes to sell your home fast, and this case in Oakland is no different. From house buying and flipping to front door smashing, they experience it all.

Maybe one notable incident that had happened this year is how a collective of mothers specifically black woman activists had raised awareness for the city’s housing crisis.

Forceful Eviction in 2020

Earlier in the year 2020, a forceful eviction in West Oakland was being brought out by the Alameda County Sheriff. The target? The members of Moms 4 Housing. They are a group of black mothers who had shown deep roots in Oakland.

After purchasing and occupying a vacant house, they made a public statement wherein they stated their occupation which is directed to the city’s housing crisis. According to them, people particularly children had sat on the streets homeless while empty houses stood perfectly fine and in good shape all around the City.

The Moms 4 Housing even had to go to the Alameda County Superior Court and face off against a judge who had ordered their removal from the building.

As the members refused to comply, a huge public blockade rally with an overwhelming display of support from all over the country and world stood.

The very next day, two of the members as well as their supporters were arrested for having to stand on the street rallying. Later that afternoon they were released however one of Wedgewood’s publicists sought out the media and had declared victory over the allegedly illegal occupation of the women.

A Campaign that Became a Movement

The campaign however had no reason to back down, the campaign grew into a movement having thousands of supporters from all over the country and world.

They seek to stop the rampant gentrification, housing inequity, and real estate speculations which have caused several damages to all people for years. The Moms 4 Housing organization stood within their ground and continued to fight for the reframing of the national discourse around housing justice.

Well, they certainly succeeded with that bind as the Oakland Community Land Trust announced their negotiation with Wedgewood in terms of purchasing the property. The collective mothers would also be moving back in. The Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf was also stated to be the one who brokered the deal about the negotiation with Wedgewood.

Homelessness in Oakland

Homelessness had been one of the most troublesome problems that Oakland had handled. Over the past two years, 47 percent of Oakland’s residences had been experiencing homelessness and statistics had shown that mostly black communities were the ones affected.

Seventy percent of the said data are unhoused black people in Oakland which makes us look on a different perspective like racism. It may not have been intentional and fully coincidental but the loss of one’s home had been one of the most difficult cases not only with American cities but also around the world.

Gentrification, Displacements, Criminalization of the poor and Homelessness, are just some of the cases you should be aware of as our world changes, and the gap between generations is closed in by new methods and ideals.

Tennis Elbow

Cricketers and Even Housewives Can Get Tennis Elbow

The word tennis elbow can be confusing to non-sports enthusiasts. However, cricketers and even housewives can get it. Although the name is confusing, tennis elbow is not related to tennis at all. If you want to get the facts on whether fast recovery from tennis elbow is possible, keep reading.

What is a tennis elbow?

Doctors say that tennis elbow is a form of “overuse injury” of the arm. They also say that it can occur on anybody, including computer professionals and even housewives. You do not have to be a cricketer or any other sportsperson to feel the sharp pain in your elbow as you do your daily activities.

Dr. Yash Gulati’s take

Dr. Yash Gulati is a senior orthopedics consultant at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital. He says that tennis elbow is a condition that affects the extensor muscles. The muscles get injured as a result of the repetitive movement of the wrist and the forearm.

The injury causes a sharp pain at the tip of the elbow and then spreads to other parts. Dr. Gulati insists that a sudden uptake of some vigorous activity can precipitate a tennis elbow. He adds that a sudden step-up of the intensity of any regular activity can also cause tennis elbow.

Dr. Surya Bhan’s take

Dr. Surya Bhan is a professor and the head of the orthopedics department at AIIMS. He says that tennis elbow is common among housewives because they spend most of their time bending down. They also lift heavy objects, such as pressure cookers.

Therefore, the weights of the objects cause wear and tear of the muscles. Repeated actions cause injuries and eventually lead to tennis elbow.

How to solve the problem

Some actions, such as tightening of screws or lifting weights, cause excruciating pain. However, there are some ways of relieving pain. You can use pain-relieving ointments or an elastic band to support your elbow.

Another way of solving the problem is by taking six weeks of complete rest. This rest will help repair the muscles, and you will get back to normal at the end of the resting period.

You can also get steroid injections as prescribed by a physician. However, injections are rare. If the patient does not respond to all these measures, the patient is taken for a small surgery to remove the dead pieces of the muscles.

Dr. B K Dhaon’s take

Dr. B K Dhaon is the head of the orthopedics department at Maulana Azad Medical College. He says that sometimes a tennis elbow-like condition can manifest itself when there is a protrusion of the disc between the third and fourth levels of the cervical vertebra.

Dr. Dhaon recommends that this problem should be looked into deeply when the patient does not respond to the usual treatment. He warns that the problem could escalate and cause further damage to the muscles.

Final Thoughts

Although the word tennis elbow is confusing, anybody can get it. You do not have to be a sportsperson to get tennis elbow. However, the problem is manageable through the usual treatment or surgery.
